Parents and other professionals interested in the ever-changing college admissions landscape will be interested in a recent addition to the New York Times website. The Choice, features the latest information, from admissions professionals, on college admissions, financial aid, standardized testing, and much more.
This week, in a five-part series, The Choice has been featuring answers to select reader questions by Gaston Caperton, who has been president of the College Board since 1999.
Educators and policy makers, including Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, have said in recent days that they hope President Obama’s example as a model student could inspire millions of American students, especially blacks, to higher academic performance.
Now researchers have documented what they call an Obama effect, showing that a performance gap between African-Americans and whites on a 20-question test administered before Mr. Obama’s nomination all but disappeared when the exam was administered after his acceptance speech and again after the presidential election. A+ will be hosting a free proctored ACT Practice Exam on 12/13/08 9:00 AM at the Gwynedd Office.
This proctored exam is open to all former and present A+ clients. It allows students to take a full length standardized ACT within the normal time constraints.
