Special Education Advocacy Training

The SEAT program is a twelve session program designed for parents, educators, clinicians, lawyers- and anyone who is interested in special education, including kids with learning issues. Topics include preparing for IEPs, understanding and utilizing evaluations, advocacy skills and more.  Attendees have the option of attending one, several, or all of the sessions.  Act 48 and CEU credits will be given.

The facilitator, Dr. Marie Lewis, is a well known disability expert and is on the faculty of the National Special Education Advocacy Institute.  Last year, over 1000 people attended a similar training conducted by Dr. Lewis for the ARC of Chester County. New York Times ‘The Choice’ Aims to Shed Light on College Admissions Process

Study Sees an Obama Effect as Lifting Black Test-Takers

Educators and policy makers, including Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, have said in recent days that they hope President Obama’s example as a model student could inspire millions of American students, especially blacks, to higher academic performance.

Now researchers have documented what they call an Obama effect, showing that a performance gap between African-Americans and whites on a 20-question test administered before Mr. Obama’s nomination all but disappeared when the exam was administered after his acceptance speech and again after the presidential election. Proctored ACT Practice Exam

A+ will be hosting a free proctored ACT Practice Exam on 12/13/08 9:00 AM at the Gwynedd Office.

This proctored exam is open to all former and present A+ clients.  It allows students to take a full length standardized ACT within the normal time constraints.

Interested students can call the office to sign up.
