Keystone Exams Are Coming!

Pennsylvania is implementing a new system of high school graduation requirements, starting with the Class of 2015. Under the new rules, students must be able to demonstrate mastery of Algebra I, Biology, English Composition, and Literature in order to graduate from high school.

Students will be required to take the Keystone Exams as the final exam in the corresponding course and the exam score is required to count for at least 1/3 of the student's final course grade. In addition, starting in the 2012-13 school year, the Keystone Exams will replace the 11th grade PSSA tests (as long as the U.S. Department of Education approves this change). The PSSA will still be used for assessment of elementary and middle school students.
