A new book about the college admissions process, Acceptance: A Legendary Guidance Counselor Helps Seven Kids Find the Right Colleges—And Find Themselves, by David L. Marcus, has just been published.

Marcus,a former education writer for US News and World Report, tells us the story of Gwyeth Smith, a unique high school college counselor. Smith, also known as “Smitty,” takes an unorthodox approach to the college admissions process. Rather than steering students to the best school they can “get into,” he takes the opportunity to help students discover who they really are, and in the process, find the college that is the best fit.

This book chronicles a college counselor who takes a refreshingly different approach. By helping students find themselves while going through the arduous college admissions process, Smith does a world of good for his students, and their families.

Not only did he get the results he wanted- he surpassed them.    We chose A+ for Preparation to help our daughter prepare for college entrance exams. May daughter had Pam for the verbal portion of the exam. Pam was amazing! She asked about extra-curricular activities and demonstrated genuine interest in my daughter's role as a student in and outside of the classroom. Pam also noted how important these activities are to colleges. John was the tutor for math and science. He helped my daughter feel comfortable and confident in her skills.
