If you are considering making an investment in your child’s education by hiring a tutor, you want to know that he or she is passionate about helping students. Find out what motivates our tutors.
Motivation Meets Experience
Our tutors come from diverse backgrounds and include teachers, engineers, computer scientists, economists, writers, and more. What they have in common is their passion for helping students meet their academic goals.
We wrote last week about the extensive screening and interview process that all candidates undergo before becoming A+ tutors, along with ongoing mandatory professional development. But qualifications and training are only part of what makes a tutor effective. He or she must also be passionate and motivated to help students learn.
As tutor Brandon Presley mentioned in the above video, he loves to experience the look on students’ faces when they finally grasp a concept that was initially a challenge, and he is passionate about helping each and every student reach that point.
Our tutors understand the importance of the college admissions process and the pressure that a student might be under while preparing for college. A+ tutor and English professor Sean Flannery works to ensure that standardized tests are not a roadblock for students. “Seeing college as a business, I relish the opportunity to equip kids with the tools they need to succeed in standardized tests so that any problems they might have in that one particular skill do not potentially exclude them and hamper their worthwhile academic and personal pursuits at the college of their choice,” he says.
The one-to-one method also allows our tutors to really connect with students and customize the tutoring program. “I love working one-on-one with students because I can really get to know them and learn what they love and what motivates them. It is great to be able to temper tutoring to the individual,” tutor Tana Connolly says.
At A+, we work hard to ensure that our tutors are not only experienced, but also highly motivated to help students. You can learn more about our tutors, their backgrounds, and why they tutor here.
