Summer: Making Every Moment Count

Summer is here and gone all too fast. Barbecues, pool parties, vacation trips, fireworks—with so many fun activities, Memorial Day becomes Labor Day in a flash. However, in between weekend trips and rushing to your summer job, consider investing some of those hours in your future.
Without paper deadlines and the pressure of tests, you can get a jump on SAT or ACT prep, prepare for upcoming courses, strengthen weak skills, or make solid ones even stronger.

(Rising juniors) Take the SAT and ACT Practice Tests. Don’t hesitate. Dive right in! The best way to decide which test better showcases your strengths is to take both proctored practice tests. You can then review the results with an A+ Director who will help you understand your scores, help you determine which test is a better fit, and make a test prep plan.

Work on College Essays. Summer is the perfect time to work on your college application essays since school is out and you have more time to focus on this critical aspect of your applications.

Prepare for an Upcoming Course. Anticipating AP Chemistry or English in the fall? Get a head start on the periodic table or MLA citations with one of our experts and AP Test Prep. Start the new school year with confidence instead of butterflies in the stomach! You may choose tutoring in one of our offices (Jenkintown or North Wales) or in the comfort of your own home.

Work on a Weak Skill Area. Sometimes a little skill-building is necessary before you tackle test prep. Bolster your knowledge with A+’s Grammar, Math, and Vocabulary Foundations Programs over the summer prior to doing an SAT or ACT course in the fall.

Do Enrichment Work. There is no such thing as perfect writing; writing can always be improved. This goes for reading and math too. Write stronger essays and increase comprehension and reading speed with some one-on-one sessions. The results of your work will benefit you both academically and personally.

Improve Executive Function Skills. Summer can be a great time to learn goal-setting, time management, organizational skills, or another skill you need to improve.

But don’t forget to enjoy! Remember the old saying, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”? (Well, before your time, maybe.) The point is, take some time to appreciate summer as you’re laying the foundation for your future. Eat an ice cream sandwich. Sit under a beach umbrella and don’t forget the sunscreen!
