  • All undergraduate and graduate transcripts are required
  • 3 references are required
  • Applicant must successfully complete A+ Test Prep training program and evaluation sessions
  • A+ consistently monitors all tutors to ensure they are effectively helping their students meet their educational goals

Matching Students with Tutors

Every effort is made to match each student with the most qualified tutor. When making assignments we consider both the personality and needs of the student and the tutor’s teaching style. Once a match is made, your tutor will contact you directly to schedule the first appointment. We believe that tutoring is most effective when tutors get to know their students. Once the tutor has a sense of your student’s needs, he or she will be able to more effectively help your child achieve his or her potential.

We strive to make the best possible match from the start. In some cases, however, the initial match may not be perfect. Our goal is to provide the highest level of customer service to our clients.

If for any reason you are not happy with your tutor, please call our office at (215) 886-9188 (Jenkintown) or (215) 619-0333 (Gwynedd) so we can address the situation.

Appointments that Meet Your Schedule

In most cases, a regular weekly schedule will be arranged with the tutor. Students typically meet with their tutor once or twice a week for either an hour or an hour and a half per session, depending on the nature of the tutoring. In some cases it is necessary to meet more often than that. Appointments can be arranged after school, in the evenings, or on weekends. Tutoring sessions are to take place at the same time(s) each week. If for some reason this schedule must be changed because of extracurricular activities, please provide us with a calendar in advance. Also, please note that for at-home tutoring a parent or adult must be present. Private tutoring can also be arranged in our Jenkintown or Gwynedd, PA offices.

In order for tutoring to be effective, it must occur regularly. If a student does not meet with a tutor according to the arranged schedule, it may seriously affect the quality and effectiveness of the tutoring program. In addition, the tutor may not be able to keep this time available if sessions are not held regularly. Should you have any questions or require clarification about this policy, please call our office at:

  • (215) 886-9188 (Jenkintown)
  • (215) 619-0333 (Gwynedd)

Cancellation Policy

When an appointment is made, time has been set aside from the tutor’s day to teach the lesson. Either our office or the tutor must be notified at least 24 hours in advance of cancellation or you will be charged for the time. (Weekend appointments must be canceled by 4 PM on Friday.) Please give us enough notice in order to avoid any inconvenience. Please call our office at:

  • (215) 886-9188 (Jenkintown)
  • (215) 619-0333 (Gwynedd)

Remember that missed sessions should be made up the same week whenever possible so as to maintain continuity of the tutoring program and its effectiveness in helping the student improve. This is particularly important when a student is enrolled in a standardized test preparation program.
